Aim and scope

The Scientific Journal of the UNESCO Regional Center for Quality and Excellence in Education is a peer-reviewed scientific journal published 3 times a year, concerned with the dissemination of institutional scientific research in the field of quality and excellence in education, both locally and internationally, with the aim of enriching specialized scientific knowledge in topics related to quality and excellence in education, and its data-informed standards and indicators.  This journal represents a qualitative leap in institutional scientific research based on rigorous intellectual frameworks, best practice experiences, and data-based procedural models, to enable quality in education from the entry points of educational technologies, curricula, contemporary teaching methods, learning material, educational policies, management, governance and planning, information and knowledge management, supporting educational decision-making informed by data, and employing business administration to enable quality and excellence in education, thus the center aims through the outputs of the journal to spread the culture of quality and excellence from educational, administrative and social entrances, and strengthen them in educational institutions through institutional scientific research.  The quality that we mean is the processes concerned with the continuous improvement of educational services, and the continuous and institutional attention to raise the level of outputs of the teaching and learning processes in accordance with the requirements of the constantly changing labor market. The excellence we seek is the ultimate result of these ongoing processes. It is embodied in a person who has acquired basic specialized and life-related knowledge and skills, is capable of decent work, and has the ability and desire for lifelong learning. It represents the civilized values of critical thinking, tolerance, and coexistence with others who are culturally, religiously, and socially different.

The publication scope of the journal focuses on a wide range of topics, most notably:

  • Contemporary educational technologies.
  • Contemporary curricula and teaching methods and material learning.
  • Educational policies.
  • Educational management, governance and contemporary forward-looking and strategic educational planning.
  • Enabling quality education at the various educational levels from early childhood to general education, to vocational and technical education, university education and lifelong learning (axes, elements, standards and indicators). 
  • Effective teacher preparation mechanisms.
  • Knowledge management and support data-informed educational decision-making.
  • Employing information science and libraries, their systems, and techniques, especially artificial intelligence, to enable quality and excellence in education with contemporary mechanisms and formats.
  • Employ business administration to enable quality and excellence in education (Total Quality Management, Strategic Planning, Human Resource Management, Operations Management, Administrative leadership, risk management, e-management, governance, applied statistics in quality, contemporary quantitative and qualitative methods to enable quality in education).
  • Employ data science for academic program output analyzes, labor market analyzes and education analytics in order to ensure quality and decent work for graduates from academic and professional institutions.
  • Equity in the education of students in all categories in line with global trends in terms of mental health and support for marginalized groups, people with special needs, talented and outstanding, and others.
  • Employ contemporary methodologies, approaches and methods to research quality in their procedural education such as systematic literature review and meta-analysis (systematic literature review and meta-analysis), and modeling structural equations in their various technical methods (structural equations modeling).
